Fra introduksjonen:
Peripatetic Studies
“Peripatetic Studies” was born as a field notebook and photographic archive focused
on the urban space and the uses that it legitimizes and favours or, also, delimits and
closes. From this archive, I extract ideas that over time form long-term projects, but
this archive has indeed acquired its own character and entity over the years.
The dynamic of the creative process is the walk and its core is the search, recording
and organization of those patterns that the streets repeat in the manner of a tic,
a mania –sometimes– a phobia.
In their accumulation, the images reconstruct and illuminate the active unconscious
of our cities, which is not explicit in its enunciation but does not stop being executed
firmly.
The Hostile
The Hostile is a series dedicated to openly hostile architecture: designs and modifications
that prioritize exclusion over inclusivity.
This series points to the delimitation of use in the city, the layers of design choices that
silently segregate and isolate. These modifications of buildings and their elements
–sometimes from their conception, sometimes after the construction– deny ways of life
(such as nomadic), or show how rest and pause are banished from the centers of our
cities.
By confronting the insidious presence of hostile architecture, this art project acts as
a catalyst for crucial societal introspection. It brings to light the inherent value of public
spaces as democratic, inclusive arenas for all citizens.
“The Hostile” pivots around the various forms and registers of contemporary defensive
architecture. In their accumulation, the images reconstruct and illuminate the active
unconscious of our cities, which is not explicit in its enunciation but does not stop being
executed firmly.
